WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) came into being in England, in Autumn 1971, when Sue Coppard, a secretary living and working in London recognised the need for people like herself, who did not have the means or the opportunity, to access the countryside and support the organic movement.
WWOOF decided to hold an international competition in order to find the best logo. They wanted “An iconic design which represents the cooperative global community of WWOOF to celebrate the newly formed Federation of WWOOF Organisations.”
A versatile and iconic logo packed with multicultural symbolism. We used a strong international symbol (the hand) referring to WWOOF’s concept “Many hands making light work”.
For being a visually simple logotype it is filled with multiple references from being a global community to volunteering and organic agriculture.
